Drawing the Line – Photographs by Palíndromo Mészaros

Looking at the trees above, one might think that the trees are simply part of an outdoor art installation, but it’s not. On October 5, 2010, a toxic flood of sludge tore wreaked havoc in western Hungary, leaving nine people dead and more than 200 injured. Two years after the devastation, Spanish photographer Palíndromo Mészaros created a series he called “The Line”. It focuses not on the people affected but on the noxious byproduct scarring the town’s landscape.
