Born in Nagano Japan, Shinichi Maruyama started photographing the mountainous terrain surrounding his own home city. In 2003 he moved to New York City and began work on what would become his ‘Kusho’ series. It is a stunning abstract collection made with sumi calligraphy ink flying in mid-air.
